I just want to personally commend everyone who participated in the Gallagher Weight Loss challenge. Your competitive spirits gave me plenty to type about. Of course, when you all were lame and trying to be good sports, I took it upon myself to make up stories, bring donuts, bring cookies, or forward private emails to the rest of the group. Yes, it was me.

The Blog was an enormous success, we ranged from the low of 1 hit per day, to the one day high of 435 hits. If the challenge continues on, I will pass the torch to a competitor to keep everyone up to date with the latest and greatest.

You should all be proud of what you have accomplished.

The final weights are in and the Team winner is……………….MANWICH!!! With a team % of 11.65% weight lost.

The Team Totals are
MANWICH – 11.65%
1/3 F’n Mexi – 9.70%
Skinny Latte – 6.12%
Phat City – 5.87%

The individual competition was very tight with 4 competitors losing over 10%, including all three members of MANWICH. But in the end the individual winner is the person who continued to run regardless of what continent he was on…………….Brian Zappitello with an impressive loss of 13.30%.

The individual totals were
Zap – 13.3%
Victor – 12.61%
Kurt – 11.99%
Michelle – 10.10%
Chris – 9.67%
Cristina – 8.29%

Everyone achieved the 3% minimum weight loss and as a group we lost a total of 222.6 lbs. Congratulations to all.

People have started weighing in and the Numbers are BIG. Team Manwich is showing strong, numbers have not been confirmed but, the word on the street is that Kurt Nation has posted an 11% weight loss, and Victor Gomez has dropped 25lbs to post a 12% overall weight loss.

It looks that across the board, weight is being lost, from 8lbs to 1lb, competitors are still losing, keep up the good work. 2 WEEKS LEFT TO GO!!! This is the home stretch, good luck to all!

Chris Wright: An inspiration to us all

Today on the day of the weigh in, we turn the spotlight on competitor Chris Wright. Chris has steadily lost weight over the last 6 weeks, striving for a 20lb loss. As of today, he had achieved his goal, but the road has not been an easy one. Last week, Chris found out that he was overqualified for his position at Nike. It just so happened that Wright’s “can do” attitude and strong work ethic was too much for the corporate environment, and was asked to step down. With a box in one arm, and a smile on his face, Wright left the Nike campus with a fresh outlook. Some would have taken this as a setback, a reason to sit on the couch and drown in sorrow and the sweet embrace of twinkies and cola, to cast off the weight loss, and embrace the weight gain, or to begin drinking so hard that his blood would actually be composed totally of alcohol, and devoid of blood…….but not Chris, not now. Chris began running, in a Forrest Gumpish type move, Wright took to the streets, beating down the pain with each foot strike on the pavement, building back his confidence with each bead of sweat that fell from his head. Chris Wright would not be beaten, by life, by weight, by corporate org charts. This was the beginning, HIS beginning.

Congrats Chris….well done.

Temptation too much for Bunch: does great cookie monster impersonation.

One second they were there, the next the were gone. Everyone has their limits, apparently Jen Bunch can only be around a plate full of cookies for an hour before indulging. Bunch was the target of a vicious attack by a baker terrorist this morning, fellow competitor John Nouguier was also the recipient of a plate of temptation, “Tell whoever, I don’t like oatmeal cookies.”

Bunch was not as lucky. Was this an isolated attack, will there be more, or will there be retaliation? Time will tell.

Targets LOCKED_ individual weight loss leaders targeted in cookie attack

It looks as though John Nouguier and Jen Bunch are the latest targets in a food warfare attack, this time the weapon of choice, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. No group has yet to claim responsibility for the attack, the note left on each did nothing more but to sarcastically call out the weight that each competitor had lost so far. The question that needs to be asked, though, is did Kurt Nation also recieve a plate of sweet temptation. If not, is this a team attack, or one radical acting alone.

Rumbles and Grumbles dominate after rankings are posted

True colors of the competition are beginning to show as the competition grinds on. On the heels of a second Manwich victory, many are left with the nagging feelings of defeat, while some are pointing fingers and wondering “how they did that.”

The question in the minds of all the people keeping tabs on this competition is: what will the next two weeks bring? This weigh in, percentages were down, will that be the spring boards or the kiss of death.
